Wait… what’s that? You don’t know what Gi60 is?!
Okay, here’s the breakdown: Gone in 60 (or, Gi60) is the world’s only International One-Minute Theatre Festival. Created in 2004 by Steve Ansel and ScreamingMediaProductions in the UK and joined in 2005 by Rose Bonczek and the Theatre Department at Brooklyn College, this festival receives submissions of 60 second plays from playwrights all around the world. The submissions are narrowed down to 100 plays: 50 to be performed in the UK, 50 at Brooklyn College. The performances are then recorded and uploaded to YouTube for sharing all around the world. Since it’s inception, this festival has grown to now also include #NextGen, the young actor’s version (performers ages 10-16, only) with 25 new plays per year, and again expanded in 2015 to include a performance of another 50 plays in Christchurch, NZ.
But enough of the history, the best way to get a feel for this festival is to see it. So, before tickets go up for sale this year, why don’t you check out last year’s production of #NextGen with the full 25-play playlist on YouTube HERE.
See you in June!
