Broadway & Beyond
Here at Acting Out!, we love being able to say that we have TONS of student success stories. Why hide it, we say! Our students work hard and it is our joy to see them succeed in what they want to be doing in life. With that, we’re thrilled to continue to announce all our success stories as they come in! Keep checking in to see all our latest successes!
Erick Abbate — Daredevil, and more!
Congratulations to one of our frequently working students on your most recent projects! Erick Abbate was cast in a recurring role in the first season of Netflix’s Daredevil. He also appeared on an episode of NBC’s The Mysteries of Laura, and finally, wrapped shooting Touched With Fire alongside Katie Holmes. All of this in 2015. What a year, Erick! We are so proud to see all of your hard work paying off!
Zachary Brod — On a Stool at the End of the Bar
A huge congratulations to our student Zachary Brod on his role in the world premiere of On a Stool at the End of the Bar by Robert Callely, presented by The Director’s Company at 59E59! The New York Times describes his role perfectly:
“[Antoinette Thornes] has a lovely rapport with the actors playing the children, particularly Zachary Brod as the youngest, sleepy-eyed Mario.”
Jake Goris — Late Night with David Letterman
Congratulations to our student Jake Goris for his appearance on Late Night with David Letterman.
“The staff at Acting Out teach have been invaluable to me. I’ve learned acting, dancing, and even picked up some singing. But most of all, each and every one of their instructors teach you how to be a better you. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without Acting Out. Thank you guys so much.” -Jake Goris
Andrew Johnson — Kinky Boots
Boy, oh boy, talent certainly runs in this family! Following shortly after brother Derek’s run on Lion King (see below), Andrew booked the role of Young Lola in the national tour of Broadway’s Kinky Boots. We are so proud of you Andrew! This talented family’s got a whole lot ahead of them!
Derek Johnson — The Lion King
Congratulations to our student Derek Johnson on a very successful run in the role of Simba in Broadway’s The Lion King. You made em’ all roar kiddo!
“My son Derek is heading to Broadway thanks to Ms. Roberta and her talented staff. My son could not have accomplished his goal if it wasn’t for Acting Out!. If your child’s desire is to sing or act, Acting Out! will make it happen!” – Frederika Johnson
Jaden Jordan — The Lion King & Kinky Boots
Congratulations to our very own student, Jaden Jordan, who is now the second child from Acting Out to land the role of Simba in Broadway’s The Lion King. He also recently landed the role of Young Lola in the #1 Hit Broadway smash Kinky Boots, which won six Tony Awards! It’s amazing watching Jaden’s career continue to rocket upwards, and we’re proud that we’ve contributed to his success!
Jonah Mussolino — Deadly Devotion, Broadway’s A Bronx Tale, & more!
Casting directors know to expect talent and professionalism when they call Acting Out for a recommendation! This right here is just one prime example! Congratulations to our student Jonah Mussolino on his professional debut on Discovery ID Chanel’s Deadly Devotion: “Mafia Murder”. We know that your talent, drive, and hard work will get you far!

Jared Riley — Timmy the Great & Pixels
Our student Jared Riley was cast in “Timmy the Great” on Broadway in 2013. He then went on to play the 13-year-old version of Kevin James in 2015’s Pixels. So many wonderful things are happening for this talented young man and we are very proud! We love watching our students succeed after all the hard work and dedication they put in with us! Congratulations, Jared!
Samantha Rodino — Tango Shalom
Congratulations to our student Samantha Rodino for her recent role in the movie Tango Shalom alongside such talents as Joe Bologna, Renee Taylor, Lainie Kazan, and Karina Smirnoff! We know this is just the start to a long and successful career!
Caroline Rosenblum — Moose Murders & Broadway’s Impressionism, and more!
Congratulations to our student Caroline Rosenblum for landing the role of Gay in the off Broadway revival of Moose Murders and on your NEW YORK TIMES review!!! So proud of you!
“…and of course that tap-dancing dynamo, little Gay, a delirious cross between Shirley Temple and the heartless Rhoda of “The Bad Seed”… at least the Snooks of Brittany Velotta has a certain ghastly verve, as does the crazed tapping of Caroline Rosenblum as Gay.” – THE NEW YORK TIMES
Caroline’s hard work also landed her a role in Impressionism on Broadway, starring Jeremy Irons and Joan Allen.
“My daughter is now a professional actress with Broadway and TV credits, thanks to the wonderful training she got at Acting Out! Acting Out! is an amazing, top-notch place for children and teens to learn acting, singing, or musical theatre. My daughter continues to take lessons there, and we ALWAYS go to Acting Out! for private audition coaching before any important audition. We love Acting Out!” – Trudi Rosenblum
After both of these roles, Caroline then went on to perform in the musical A Little Princess. It was originally at the Hudson Guild Theatre, but the run was so successful it has been extended, and moved to the Pershing Square Theatre on 42nd Street. Go Caroline!!
David Schallipp — No Letting Go
Congratulations David! No Letting Go centers around what would appear to be a typical family. Over a 5-year period we soon realize the middle son is struggling in ways that do not seem common or typical. In a time where the impact of mental health challenges for families, parents, siblings and the community are just being realized — this poignant story touches on a parents worst nightmare: What if you lost your child to a mental disorder? David does a remarkable job portraying the middle son at the very start of his journey. What a vulnerable role to take on, and what justice David did it! We are so proud of you!
Josh Schwartz — Gershwin Award Winner
Congratulations to our student Josh Schwartz who was recently awarded the Gershwin Award and made his Broadway debut performance at The Jimmy’s at the Minskoff Theatre.
“I have no words to explain how happy I am to be a part of Acting Out! and the Triple Threat Troupe. I love my Acting Out family and how welcoming they are. Thank you all for your continuous love and support.” – Josh Schwartz

A fresh talent to watch out for: our student, Jake Wasserman! He recently made his Saturday Night Live debut in their SNL Review skit. Congratulations Jake! We’re excited to watch your star continue to grow!
Lauren Zilberman — The Food Network
Not only are our kids talented on the stage or in front of the camera, some of them are also adding kitchen skills to their resumes! Congratulations to our student Lauren Zilberman on cooking up a storm on the Food Network’s Rachel vs. Guy Kid Cook Off, season 2!
Emma Berardelli, Dylan Brod, Jonah Mussolino, Jolie Wasserman, and Jake Wasserman — Gypsy
Huge congratulations to our students for their work in The Gallery Players’ production of Gypsy.
“The small children who play Baby June, Baby Louise, and the other pint-sized vaudeville performers in the opening scenes are absolutely adorable, with remarkable stage presence and surprising skill. They actually made me nervous that after being bowled over by cuteness, I might be disappointed with the adult cast.” – Jon Sobel, Blog Critics
“Of course, I have my favorites; actors who I felt went above and beyond the call of duty to embody their character and entertain the audience. First on the list is the extremely talented and charismatic Jolie Rose Wasserman, who played Baby June. She is a remarkable actress and was a delight to see perform.” – Dr. Thomas Robert Stevens
Now, our success stories don’t end with our students, we’ve got our teachers to congratulate as well! After all, we hire only the best to teach and inspire our future stars!

Ryan Nearhoff — Hank Williams: Lost Highway
CONGRATULATIONS and welcome back to our musical theatre and singing teacher Ryan Nearhoff for a very successful run and amazing reviews starring as Hank Williams in Hank Williams: Lost Highway.
Emily Nicholas — V Magazine, National Tour with Dams of the West
Congratulations Ms. Emily on your recent feature in V Magazine!
“The emotion really unfurls onstage, when the front woman transforms into her Danger-ous persona, which entails a Björk-like approach to fashion. “It’s nice to shape-shift into someone else and wear like a ton of weird eye makeup and a Snuggie,” she says. “Kind of David Bowie meets Antony Hegarty.” With her native ability and wholehearted 360 approach, Danger is in no risk of fading from the spotlight anytime soon.”
Even more recently, Ms. Emily’s original song “War Torn” was featured on the Wall Street Journal’s behind-the-scenes video of their October 2016 cover photo shoot with model Gigi Hadid. (Hear it here.)
In February 2017 Ms. Emily took off on a national tour with Dams of the West, fronted by Chris Thomson of Vampire Weekend. She’ll be playing keys and singing backup vocals. We’ll miss her around the studio for the next couple of months but are so proud of her!
Justin Packard — Matilda
The reality of this business is that sometimes we’ve got to say “Goodbye, for now” to some of our teachers as they book great gigs. This was the case with our very own Justin Packard last March, when he left to go on the national tour of Matilda. We are so proud of you Justin!
Peter Romano — Othello, NBC’s “The Blacklist”
Congratulations to our very own Mr. Peter on his run as Iago in William Shakespeare’s Othello at Classic Stage Company. It was such a treat for our students to be able to see their teacher on stage doing what he does so well!
Mr. Peter was also recently featured on an episode of NBC’s “The Blacklist”, and in the Spring of 2017 premiered his very own webseries “The New Neighborhood” which he writes, directs, produces, and performs in – talk about hard at work!
